• Desperate warm up round for me Saturday. No expert but had my eyes closed on at least 3 tee shots, which I’m pretty sure is not in any text book. Crash course at range needed. Looking forward now and reckon we could finally see Hardwick lift the trophy.

  • Good scoring yesterday on the Society do. Fairly easy course, but got 34pts, Doigy 35, Micky B 36, Craig 33, Rob 28, Tat 28, Jeff 30, Keith 28, Wallis 29, Ramm 26. Winner on a countback was Mr. Hardwick (36). He recovered from a poor start (sign of a champion), he hit almost every fairway (sign of a champion), putted well (sign of a champion), and…[Read more]

  • Operation Moose avoidance started last night. Disastrous performance with 26pts. Doigy not much better (27). Hardwick 36pts and left some out there…

  • Hi Lads. Way behind schedule this year so crash course for me over next 4 weeks to find some form. Drawn with 3 southerners including last years champion which could be interesting or embarrassing. Plenty of high scores up north but don’t want to peak too early…

  • Looking forward to the Calco Pairs comp. Peaky Blinders prep not been great (both under performed in latest northern comp) but we still plan on slipping under the radar and shocking the world with victory next weekend. Got Calla staying at mine for 3 days leading up to the comp, so will be looking forward to the break next weekend. AK

  • Hours to go and still decisions to make. Main one being try and cure my massive left to right shape or stick with the ‘Slappy Gilmore’??? Calla has arrived up north and seems in confident mood after his links course practice. Final round yesterday saw Mr. Yates win comfortably and the rest of us all pretty close. Was going to stay in Wednesday…[Read more]

Also Jeff has asked me to ask if anyone has a spare pencil or some old tees he would be very grateful.

42 pts! Now that is unbelievable Jeff! Its getting to the point where this years competition is Steve’s to lose. My 9 holes Friday was very average and Doigy is now advising me on how to prepare mentally. A carefree attitude apparently. Jeff update…Not bought the clubs & bag for £30 and is going to go with what he has, which I think is no…[Read more]

  • Went to range last night with Ferny. People were gathering around him just to watch him swing. I pretended to be his agent and charged people 50p. Behind schedule myself but like the seasoned Calconians say ‘don’t peak too early’. Saw Hardwick at the range, just had his putting lesson. Got me thinking, I have actually never ever been to the range…[Read more]

    • yes he certainly is talking the talk AK. I have a nice 40 euros ew on him at 30’s …….Ferny will be golfed out and i don’t think he copes with pressure a bit like Tatt 🙂 maybe one of the new boys will just burn the course up with no prior knowledge of the banter. You cannot rule out burke foz sumner etc but the bookies prices are crap!

      • Ak is talking himself down and me up
The Kman has banished his “Slappy Gilmore” for crisp pure strikes. one to watch for sure.
The Manor Driving Range is to be re named The Steve Hardwick Sheds.
“turn the lights off Steve when you leave” was heard from the curator.

OK. Jeff says he was only joking… apart from the bit about ‘rusty shaft’. And his trolley’s wheels are made of wood. When is your putting lesson Stevie? Me and Jeff might come and watch.

  • Jeff working at my house today and has asked me to post on his behalf as he can’t understand how the web site works. He wants to know if he can have 2 shots back as he’s had his clubs stolen and is currently having to play with a ‘rusty shaft’. As is often the case I think he’s joking but you’re never quite sure. I want some shots back too as all…[Read more]

  • Played in the comp that Keith won on Sunday. Impressive performance. Hardwick just lost out on victory but played well. Left a standard 3 or 4 shots out there and similar to Lizzy his putting is a concern. V average from myself but in the middle of the annual swing re design. First time I’ve ever played golf where Ferny hasn’t been in the shake up…[Read more]

    • Perhaps Mr Winds stolen clubs are Calla`s Moose avoidance strategy.
Can you confirm your whereabouts on Sunday night / Monday Morning Mr C?
not sure about burnout Ak but I do like to start a fire 🙂

  • Awesome performance from Ferny yesterday to win our local Golf Day. 41pts in horrific conditions. 2nd place to Lizzy (36pts) and good to decent performances from Flemming (34) Hardwick (33) Wind (30) and Doig (29). Moose material performance from Lightowler (23) myself (22) Keith (20) Wallis (n) (17) & Ramm (16). Hopefully it wont rain in Portugal.

  • Great day yesterday and my run of winning the warm up comp continues. Easy really, partner someone with the surname Baldwin who has a generous handicap, preferably one not given by the committee. Rumours from the North for the South…
    – Some top quality golfers joining the Calco this year inc. 2 x 7 handicappers.
    – Plenty taking golf lessons as…[Read more]

  • Great new site chaps. Seems like there are plenty playing well but it’s too soon to be hitting form. Played with Copley a few weeks back, and he played really really well. Might have a little wager on him.
